Role: Operations manager
A candidate, with vast experience in food manufacturing and operations, came out of retirement to return to the working environment. The motivation for the candidate was not financial or career driven but to provide a ‘legacy’ to a family business. As a result, the candidate was prepared to wait for the right opportunity. This was unique challenge for Clarico based on the specific criteria set by the candidate.
Clarico was in a competitive market with other recruiters to place this candidate according to their remit. Clarico’s personal and professional approach combined with a strong knowledge of businesses in the food manufacturing industry, provided them with an edge over the rivals.
There was not a ‘ready-made’ vacancy waiting for the client. Clarico meticulously sourced opportunities and employers that would not just enable the candidate’s skills and knowledge to be used to their best ability but would be suitably matched to a business that would benefit from employing this individual. The candidate secured two interviews with Clarico – both family-run businesses.
Based on his expertise he was offered a variety of roles – with larger businesses for greater financial return, but these were rejected as they did not fit his own particular challenge. However, the interview Clarico sourced with Althams Butchers, was a winning combination. The business was impressed with the candidate to create a specific operations manager role to accommodate them, which was accepted.
The candidate’s criteria to work for a family run business was fully met on two occasions, with one prepared to create the role of operations manager to secure his services, adding value to the company and enabling it to grow.
On Althams Butchers: “What I knew was that this was a business I felt comfortable with and one where I wanted to help them figure out what they did want.”
On Clarico: “Chloe gave a very personal and professional approach. She was prepared to work to find me the right position. She knew exactly what I was looking for and kept me engaged and informed throughout.”
